Why the tile is the least important part of your shower

Tile is the part you pick. Waterproofing is the part that keeps your shower alive for 20 years. A shower that fails does not usually fail through the tile; it fails behind it — at the seam where the wall meets the pan, at the shower niche corners, at the base of the curb, or under a floor drain that was set without a slope pan. Every one of those is invisible once tile goes over it.

So we detail the waterproofing on the quote, by product and layer — a Schluter Kerdi membrane, or a Wedi board build, or a fluid-applied system like RedGard — and by seam treatment (banded fabric at every corner). If a quote does not name the waterproofing product, the price does not include real waterproofing.

Walk-in shower styles we build

• Curbless walk-in. Shower floor set flush with the bathroom floor — modern, accessible, and how newer primary baths in West Valley get spec'd. Requires recessing the subfloor or a mud-bed build.
• Low-threshold walk-in. A 3–4" curb, still easy to step over, and the fastest path if the drain doesn't want to move.
• Standard-alcove walk-in. Full-tile walls, glass panel or door, and a solid-surface or tiled pan — the everyday remodel.
• Doorless walk-through. A wider entry with a glass wing wall, no swinging door — a good fit for larger primary baths.

Glass, and why measurements matter

Custom shower glass is measured after tile — never before — because a wall is never perfectly plumb. The one-week lead time on the glass measurement is why a well-run job overlaps trades: while the glass is being fabricated, we finish paint, install the vanity, hang mirrors, and punch the room. The result is that day-1 of glass install is also final walk-through day.

• Tile size (large-format cuts faster; mosaic sheets are slower).
• Pattern (running bond vs. herringbone vs. stacked).
• Curbless vs. curbed (curbless is more subfloor work up front).
• Glass thickness and hardware (3/8" panel vs. 1/2" with matte-black clamps).
• Custom niches and benches (each is its own waterproofed sub-build).
