Do you charge for the estimate? No. The in-home visit and written quote are free — for every bathroom project we look at in Yakima, Selah, Union Gap, Terrace Heights and the surrounding towns.

Do I have to be home for the estimate? Yes — someone 18+ needs to be there so we can walk the whole space, check the plumbing, and answer your questions in real time.
How do I know the remodeler is licensed and insured? In Washington, ask for the L&I contractor registration number (a 12-digit UBI code) and a current certificate of general liability insurance before you sign anything. You can verify any contractor's registration, bond and insurance yourself on L&I's Verify a Contractor tool.
Does it need a permit? That depends on the work, not on the word "remodel" — it is the plumbing, electrical or structural part that triggers one. Work that moves plumbing, changes electrical, or alters walls needs a permit through City of Yakima Codes Administration (inside city limits) or Yakima County Public Services Building & Fire Safety (for unincorporated addresses like parts of Terrace Heights, West Valley and Moxee). Your remodeler should pull it and coordinate the inspections.
What should I ask about who does the work? Ask which trades are handled directly and which are subcontracted, and make sure the plumber and electrician on your job are separately licensed by L&I for the work that requires it. A good remodeler will tell you exactly who's on your project.
